MCC Honors Program

Stand Out with Honors Classes at MCC!
There are MANY advantages to taking Honors courses and NO additional risk. MCC Honors courses do not involve more work; rather, they allow students greater freedoms to personalize assignments, explore new learning opportunities, and foster a higher level of study.  Additionally, research shows that most students earn grades in Honors courses comparable to those they earn in non-Honors courses.

Moreover, Honors courses stand out on your transcript, transfer just as well as non-honors courses and enhance your chances for admission into competitive 4-year schools.  MCC Honors graduates have successfully transferred to Columbia, Cornell, NYU, TCNJ, and other top-tier institutions, many having won lucrative scholarships.  These students all cite the Honors Program as a major factor in their success.  New MCC Honors students can network with our Honors alumni for guidance with the admissions process, job and career opportunities, etc.
There are many additional benefits to being an MCC Honors student, such as exclusive use of the Honors Student study lounge, field trips, guest speakers and social events all at NO EXTRA COST!!! Finally, the MCC Foundation offers annual scholarships designed especially for Honors students.

If you have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, if you have 12 or more college credits AND if you have completed all developmental coursework, you may qualify to take Honors courses at MCC!  (Note: If your GPA is 3.25-3.5 you may be eligible to take a single Honors course with a professor’s recommendation.)
