Academic Advising Overview for Liberal Arts Political Science (LAPOS.AA) Majors

The Academic Advising Center is continuing a new project which will allow students to receive an overview of the requirements of their declared major. In so doing, the Center hopes to utilize the electronic resources at its disposal to provide our students with another method of the best possible academic advising in as efficient a way as possible. This Electronic Advising Packet is for the Liberal Arts--Political Science (LAPOS.AA) Degree.

ENG 121--English Composition I
ENG 122--English Composition II (prerequisite of English Composition I with a grade of "C" or better)


SPE 121--Fundamentals of Public Speaking or SPE 123--Discussion and Debate

HIS 121--History of Western Civilization I
HIS 122--History of Western Civilization II


GE Humanities Elective

Two semesters of a modern language

CSC 105--Computer Applications and Systems or CSC 106--Intermediate PC Applications with Programming (CSC 106 has a prerequisite of CSC 105 or CSC 107 and MAT 014)

GE Math elective
GE Science elective
GE Math or GE Science elective


Two GE Social Science electives

POS 121--Introductory Government and Politics
POS 220--United States National Government

Choose two courses from the following:
POS 201--United States State and Local Government
POS 222--Foreign Governments:A Comparative Analysis
POS 231--Constitutional Law (prerequisite of POS 121 or POS 201 or POS 220)

GE Diversity elective

Divisional elective (Choose one course from the following--AFS, ART, ASL, BIO, CHM, COR, DAN, EDU, ENG, FRE, GER, HED, HIS, ITA, LNC, MAT, MUS, PED (3 credit), PHI, PHY, POL, POS, PSY, SSD, SOC, SPA, SPE, THE)

Physical Education (1 credit) or Health Education (3 credits)
